Kurš no šiem teikumiem ir pareizs?
a) I don’t know if I will be able to do it.
b) I’m not sure if she’ll come.
c) Having an experienced host — a mentor, if you will — will help you feel safe.
d) I dunno when he’ll finally come visit me.
e) If you will smoke twenty a day, it’s not surprising you have a hacking cough.
Visi šie teikumi ir pareizi.
Bet, bet, bet, bet… man angļu valodas stundās mācīja, ka aiz if seko tagadne, nevis nākotne!!!
Un mācīja jums pareizi. Bet taisnība ir arī man.
whether
if mēdz lietot kā sinonīmu vārdam whether.
Ja mēs pirmajos divos teikumos aizvietojam if ar whether, tad viss angļu valodas stundās mācītais paliek spēkā.

if you will
Angļu valodā ir tāds izteiciens kā if you will. Tā sinonīmi ir so to speak un as it were. Tā kā tas ir izteiciens, tad nekāda galvas lauzīšana nespēs loģiski izskaidrot, kāpēc tā tas ir.

Izņēmumi
Šos piemērus es nespēšu izskaidrot. Tie ir pareizi, par to esmu drošs.
Pieņemu, ka tie ir izņēmumi vai varbūt ir kāds likums, par kuru es neesmu dzirdējis?
